Mac Belo enters Philippine basketball’s big leagues with Blackwater

Rey Mark “Mac” Belo, the newest endorser of Blackwater for Men, looks every inch an athlete on camera and in person – standing six feet four inches tall with a muscular build that can only be acquired from hours spent studying screen drills, acing his shots and dribbles in the basketball court.

However, his imposing frame hides a shy personality. The soft-spoken Mac admits that he is still not comfortable with interviews, preferring to be seen in action.

A native of Midsayap, Cotabato, Mac first became known for his buzzer-beater shots against De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University, where he led his alma mater, Far Eastern University (FEU), to their back-to-back finals spot in the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP). He finished strong in his final playing year by clinching a UAAP championship and bagging the Most Valuable Player award.

Now a power forward for Blackwater Elite of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and also part of the pool of players for the Gilas Philippine National Team, the player admitted that he was a late-bloomer in basketball.

“My love for the sport started in high school. My older brother was the one who got me into basketball, and I began to enjoy it when my friends encouraged me to join the varsity. After that, I was given the opportunity to play for FEU where I was given proper training, and my career took off from there,” he says. 

But moving from college to professional basketball was a different playing field for him. Training sessions grew more intense with three hours of practice daily, and getting drafted into the PBA meant competing with other athletes whose skill level in the sport match his own.

Mac shares, “Being able to play professional basketball is a big achievement for me, but it also took a lot of discipline and hard work to earn my PBA spot.” These and love for the sport have paid off: he has become one of PBA Philippine Cup’s top rookie players in the first half of its 2016-2017 conference, helping his team earn three straight wins for the first time since its inception.

With this newfound recognition, he acknowledges the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He stresses, “Even off court, I’m constantly trying to improve my skills. I work on strengthening exercises at the gym.” Besides pushing his body to its limits with daily training sessions, he adds, “I try to get enough sleep and eat healthy, in fact I trained myself to avoid pork and oily food. I also maintain a good personal hygiene by taking a shower before and after practice, and using Blackwater Men’s spray to keep me smelling good even while training.”

TravelBook.ph unveils better commission rates for Affiliates

Affiliates now have increased chances of earning more!

As part of TravelBook.ph’s plan to increase the number of affiliate partners and to provide them with better deals, the company has launched a new commission structure for its Affiliate Program that makes it easier for them to earn more.

For starters, with the new set of commission rates, affiliate partners only need to have more than five (5) completed transactions to increase their earnings from 40 to 45%. This is a huge improvement from the old structure, where affiliates need to have at least 50 completed transactions to get the 45% commission rate.

Getting the highest rate of 65% is also way easier with the new commission structure—from the requirement of 1,000 or more completed transactions, it is now down to just 51. The requirements of the other commission rates have also been greatly lessened.

This new commission structure from TravelBook.ph also offers better rates compared to other affiliate programs. Coca-Cola brings safe drinking water to earthquake-stricken communities

As the people of Surigao recover from the devastation wrought by the 6.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Surigao Province last Friday, the Coca-Cola System offered quick and ready assistance to the families.

At least 11 towns including the provincial capital and two major bridges essential were damaged. The earthquake and its aftershocks have left an estimated ₱601.8 million in damage in its wake.

In light of this, the beverage company immediately arranged to send aid in the form of a vital resource--safe and clean drinking water.

On February 11 – the day after the quake, 100,000 worth of Wilkins Distilled water were unloaded at Surigao City Hall. The drinking water was distributed through the efforts of the local government, with the assistance of Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines pre-sellers, 301B personnel of the Philippine Army, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

In addition to the products, Coca-Cola Philippines, Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, and the Coca-Cola Foundation are working with the local government of Surigao for the deployment of the SETA Potable Water Machine – a mobile drinking water facility with the capability to treat and produce 3000 l/h of potable drinking water a day – to sustainably ease the community's need for this resource, and will continue to support the rehabilitation efforts in the province.

Pag-IBIG Recognizes Dermcare’s contribution to the community

Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card recently awarded Dermcare the “Loyalty Cardholder’s Favorite Partner” which equated to the number of cardholders who had the privilege to enjoy discounts at Dermcare branches nationwide.

Pag-IBIG Fund launched its Pag-IBIG Loyalty card Program in the year 2014. The program aims to extend the benefits given by Pag-ibig Fund to its members not just thru short term and housing loans but also to give them additional privilege in other necessities. Dermcare has been a Partner of Pag-IBIG Loyalty card since then.
