World Sleep Day: A sound sleep to nurture life

Sleep is currently one of the easiest thing to give up by a lot of hardworking individuals. They would rather work late hours and finish the task that is required from them and miss on hours to no sleep at all. This could affect one’s health, as those who are getting less sleep could suffer from stroke, heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and other chronic illnesses.

On the other hand, people suffering from insomnia are most likely to manifest symptoms of anxiety and depression, which can ltimately affect their performance and their relationships. In short, when sleep fails, health declines along with the quality of life.

As the country’s, Sleep Specialist, Uratex takes it as a responsibility to promote sound sleep among Filipinos with their lineup of innovative and technology-rich products that could equip people with the sleep comfort that they desire.

Innovation for a Better Life: House with No Steps Foundation unveils new Laundry Livelihood Project

Together with LG Electronics Philippines and ELS Phils. Inc., in partnership with Breakfast Ride and One Ride One Mission

The symbolic turnover of LG commercial washers and dryers for the House with No Steps Foundation’s new laundry livelihood project

Global technology innovator LG Electronics Philippines (LGEPH) and ELS Philippines, Inc. (ELSPI), in partnership with Breakfast Ride (BR) and One Ride One Mission (OROM), are set to improve the lives of Person with Disability (PWD) Filipinos starting with the beneficiaries of the House with No Steps Foundation (HWNSF).

The partnership took place due to the strong ties among the four parties. As one of the authorized partners of LG commercial washers and dryers, ELSPI is headed by their Managing Director, Joey Ermita, who is also a member of BR/OROM, a group which creates programs that promote motorcycle safety and unite all riders in a common advocacy “to ride by lifting others”.

BR/OROM was founded by Raymon Gabriel, whose father-in-law is a PWD and the founder of HWNSF. With all these groups linked together, LGEPH, ELSPI and BR/OROM converged to create an innovative CSR program for the PWD members of the HWNSF.

The concept is to renovate one of the HWNSF buildings in Cubao, Quezon City and turn it into a facility for a commercial laundry livelihood shop. This aims to establish a sustainable program that will be managed by HWNSF and operated by their PWD members, who will now be given an active role in our society given this livelihood opportunity.

The project was recently launched through a ceremonial turnover of LG commercial washers and dryers at the site. The meaningful event was graced by representatives from PWD (including the musically-talented Rondalla on Wheels), HWNSF, LGEPH, ELSPI and BR/OROM, as well as Koronadal Mayor Peter Miguel, who is also the president of National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs Philippines.

“We are very excited for this unique and heartwarming project, conceptualized with the help of ELSPI and BR/OROM,” LGEPH Managing Director Inkwun Heo said. “As a consumer-centric brand which promotes ‘innovation for a better life’, we believe in the capabilities of PWD members and we are honored to be able to provide our top-quality products to help enrich their livelihood. We hope that this will help set the stage for similar CSR initiatives for people with disabilities.”

While LG’s main contribution comprises 15 commercial washers and 15 commercial dryers, ELSPI and BR/OROM will ask for donations and support from motorcycle clubs and riders as well as various organizations for specific logistical requirements for the completion of the project.

Love your hair with Novuhair

At times when people sees us too stressed out either at work or going through our personal lives, We would be advised to calm down and “Let our hair down”, this idiom’s meaning is to allow yourself to behave much more freely than usual and enjoy yourself.

To give us much more reason to be carefree, we must be confident on how we look and feel. Take time to take care of your appearance and take extra attention to your hair. Hair is considered as our crowning glory, hence, it is pertinent that we start with it. Here are a few tips in maintaining a healthy hair.
  • Observe good hygiene all the time – regularly wash your hair to remove dirt and grimes.
  • Be extra careful whenever combing your wet hair – your hair is vulnerable to breakage during this period.
  • Use towel to dry off your hair after shower – Using hair dryer can cause damage to your hair; if you must use the heat then do so sparingly.
  • Eat the proper nutrition- Our hair is also dependent on what we eat. Iron-rich food and protein strengthens your hair.
  • Have enough sleep – Lack of sleep can cause hair loss. Sleeping allows our hair to repair and regenerate. Changes in our sleeping patterns have shown to affect our body’s immune and hormone function, as well as our physical and mental stamina. Our hair is very sensitive to these changes within the body.
  • Pamper your hair - Give your hair a proper massage with the nutrients it needs

Novuhair, nature’s answer to hair loss is made of 19 Natural ingredients which includes herbal components such as moringa oleifera, panax ginseng, virgin coconut oil and the natural essences of rosemary and peppermint.

Novuhair encourages you to understand your hair

Other than your face, your hair is one of the first thing that other people notices, this very reason is why most people take extra effort in caring for their mane, but are you doing enough?

A hair salon is one of the usual places that a person would go to whenever they need to have their hair fixed, this is typical if you just need a relief from a bad hair day or to mend your split ends. What if your hair needs a more extensive solution such as for your hair loss?

Several factors can cause hair loss and understanding your lifestyle pattern may help remedy your condition.
  • ·       Stress is the most common factor in temporary hair loss.
  •         Incorrect use of hair products with harmful chemicals
  •         Childbirth also causes temporary hair loss
  • ·       Cosmetic procedures such as Rebonding, Perming, Bleaching and Dyeing
  • ·       Autoimmune diseases such as Alopecia
  • ·       Medical treatment such as chemotherapy and Beta-blockers
  •         Medical conditions such as Lupus, Diabetes, Anorexia and Anemia can also cause hair loss

LG Electronics partners with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation’s Bantay Bata 163

LG Electronics Philippines (LGEPH) takes the fight against dengue in partnership with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation’s child-care program Bantay Bata 163 for Dengue Hospitalization Pledge campaign, where organizations will issue pledges to cover a certain amount for the treatment of each dengue-afflicted child confined in Bantay Bata 163’s partner hospitals.

Fifty pledges will be allotted for each of the eight offices of Bantay Bata 163 covering Manila, Laguna, Bicol, Negros, Iloilo, Cebu, Davao and Northern Mindanao, amounting to a total of 400 pledges nationwide. A tropical disease, Dengue has become one of the leading diseases which tremendously affect Filipinos, especially children, from all walks of life.

The company’s pledges will be supplemented by a customer engagement program where buyers of LG’s Mosquito Away Residential Air Conditioner (RAC) are encouraged to contribute to the campaign.  A portion of the proceeds from every purchase of LG’s Mosquito Away RAC from March 15 to May 30, 2017 will go to the campaign.

LGEPH’s Managing Director Inkwun Heo said, “LG has always believed in putting technology to good use. This is why we came up with innovative products like the LG Mosquito Away RAC to help families protect themselves from the fatal dengue disease.”

Launched in the Philippines early last year, LG’s revolutionary Mosquito Away RAC repels mosquitoes, especially the dengue-causing ones, allowing a healthy, comfortable and mosquito-free haven in homes, schools and establishments. It utilizes a speaker that makes inaudible ultrasound wave at a specific frequency of over 30kH, completely harmless to humans and probably the easiest way to keep mosquitoes away.

Results of tests conducted by the University of the Philippines’ Los Baños Research Professor Dr. Pio Javier showed that the LG Mosquito Away RAC is capable of repelling indigenous mosquitoes, the dengue-causing Aedes aegypti, at a very high success rate of 82.71 percent.  Aside from its Mosquito Away feature, RAC operates at low voltage for higher energy-efficiency, and its jet cooling feature results in quick cooling.
